The biggest shopping bonanza is about to begin. As the Q4 holiday season is about to begin, the online sellers are bracing up for the shopping carnival bigger and better than last year which saw sales in the amount of $100 billion+.

 

However, before the biggest deals and the season begins to see the light of the day, let us see the last year’s performance.

 

 Black Friday & Thanksgiving Day Spending:

 

    • The overall spending on the Black Friday and Thanksgiving day was $5.03 billion & $2.87 billion respectively. (Source: Adobe Analytics)

 

    • The total no of online transactions done on Black Friday & Thanksgiving was 13 million and 12.5 million respectively. (Source: Hitwise)

 

    • Total 174 million Americans shopped through the Black Friday weekend – 64.6 purchased both online and instore whereas, 58.4 million were online only. (Source: NRF)

 

    • The average spending of the two days combined was $335, the older millennials (Age 25-34) spent $419. (Source: NRF)

 

    • Tablets/laptops/PCs/TVs (27%); clothing (24%); smart-home gadgets (15%); toys (15%); gift cards (11%); and travel (8%). (Source: BlackFriday.com) were among the most popular categories for deals among the shoppers.

 

    • Best-selling electronics on the Black Friday and Google Chromecast, Apple iPads, Samsung Tablets, Apple AirPods, and Sony Playstation VR. Video games and consoles include Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Xbox One X. Toys include PJ Masks and Hatchimals & Colleggtibles, Funko Pop and L.O.L.   • Black Friday and Small Business Saturday were most popular for in-store shopping whereas Cyber Monday and Black Friday saw most online activity (Souce: NRF) 

    Cyber Monday Spending:

 

    • Cyber Monday trumped Black Friday as the highest spending day with sales amounting to $6.59 billion. (Source: Adobe Analytics)

 

  • Largest price drops heading into Cyber Monday were for toys with an average discount of 18.8 per cent, followed by TVs at 21.1 per cent and computers at 14.7 per cent. (Source: Adobe Analytics)
