eBay has launched a new Top-Service Label in Germany, aimed at helping commercial sellers stand out on the platform. The eBay Top-Service designation highlights key aspects of a seller’s service, such as prompt shipping, and offering buyers more transparency and assurance.
With the introduction of the Top-Service label, eBay is phasing out two existing labels for sellers in Germany: the eBay Guarantee and eBay Plus logos. “The advantage for you: thanks to excellent service, you can now differentiate yourself from the competition more easily—without registration and without extra costs,” says eBay. However, the eBay Plus loyalty program for buyers launched nine years ago, will continue to operate as a paid service.
eBay encourages sellers in Germany to maintain high standards of delivery and service. With Germany’s gross merchandise value estimated at 8.9 billion euros, the Top-Service logo is seen as a way to elevate the shopping experience. Moreover, it signals to buyers that they can expect a smooth, hassle-free purchase. The message prominently remains displayed across the platform.
The logo appears in multiple locations on eBay’s site. It includes search results, item pages, and shopping cart. eBay believes that this increased visibility will boost sellers’ brand trust.
To earn the Top-Service label, business sellers must maintain top ratings and an above-average service status. They are required to meet delivery promises and provide tracking information for items priced at 10 euros or more. Additionally, their products must be available with a fixed-price option, stocked in Germany, and include free shipping within the country.
After focusing on private sellers, eBay Germany rolled out several enhancements for commercial sellers last summer. These include improvements in marketing and logistics. With the new Top-Service label, eBay is reinforcing its position in the competitive German market, where Amazon remains a dominant player. The initiative is a strategic move to help sellers gain an edge through improved service and increased visibility.
