Social Commerce is here to stay and the newly curated partnership between the eCommerce giants, Amazon and TikTok Shop is evidence of this fact.
In light of this union, TikTok has integrated Amazon shopping into its platform. This integration will allow users to explore, check prices, and purchase products on Amazon without leaving TikTok Shop.
This strategic partnership will open ways for Amazon to tap into the expanding user base of TikTok while enhancing TikTok’s eCommerce capabilities. This union has followed similar collaborations of Amazon with Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest for in-app shopping.
TikTok’s goal of bridging the gap between discovery and purchase is further concreted with the embedding of product recommendations within the For You Page.
This partnership will enable TikTok users to explore Amazon products and complete transactions within the TikTok app. The users will be served real-time product information, including Prime eligibility and delivery estimates, alongside the recommendation.
“Customers who choose to link their accounts in the U.S. will see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads in TikTok as part of the experiences,” the spokesperson said of the collaboration with that company, per the report.
“Users can now seamlessly discover and purchase their favorite products from Amazon directly within the TikTok app. This shopping experience is powered by Amazon through ads placed on TikTok and allows users to complete product purchases with Amazon in TikTok’s native environment,” quoted TikTok.
“Amazon’s e-commerce business is huge but slow-growing while shopping on social media has been taking off. That’s prompted Amazon to look for ways to team up with popular social media apps,” a report by The Information stated.
How this integration affects user experience and engagement on TikTok, and whether it significantly boosts Amazon’s sales through social channels is yet to be seen.
