On August 20, 2024, YouTube announced an expansion of its partnership with Shopify to enhance the shopping experience for creators and merchants, following a notable 30 billion hours of shopping-related video content in 2023. Eligible Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the U.S. can now join YouTube Shopping’s affiliate program via the Google & YouTube app on Shopify, allowing them to collaborate with numerous creators to showcase their products in videos. This initiative provides merchants with tools to manage their affiliate participation and access analytics. Simultaneously, it also enables creators to monetize their content more effectively. Additionally, YouTube introduced a new Chrome extension for U.S. creators. It simplifies the tagging of products from various retailers and offers insights into potential earnings, fostering stronger collaboration between creators and merchants.
