Magento 2.3 Release: An introduction to its features-The latest version of Magento 2.3.0 was much speculated after ever since Imagine 2018 in April. The announcement for the same was made at Imagine and it’s now finally available in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The new release comes loaded when we talk about the features it has got to offer.
Here we’re bringing to you the features of Magento 2.3.0 to set the expectation right.
Graph QL is an open source, data query language to ensure smooth data transfer. This is one of the greatest features of Magento 2.3. In addition to SOAP/REST (being used till now) Magento 2.3 has introduced Graph QL API that will facilitate merchants in ways more than one. It will enable them to join multiple data in a common request along with the facility to define the exact data that is required.
This is unlike the SOAP/REST that returned all data associated with an endpoint and requires minimum one request per resource.
PWA can be understood as a web app that utilizes modern technology to deliver experiences similar to native apps. Magento had previously announced PWA Studio which is a toolset to enable creating a PWA application on Magento Platform.
This feature of Magento 2.3, PWA studio includes enhanced user experiences, high performance, push notification support, facility to add local preferences to list a few.
Another much-awaited feature is the Page Builder that helps in creating custom pages with simple drag and drop functionality for adding videos, images etc. This will enable creating pages with ease without getting into the hassles of complex coding.
Magento tried to ease out the complexity of creating page previously in 2016 through Bluefoot Page Builder that was exclusive for select Magento partners.
Magento 2.3 releases the beta version, the upcoming releases are expected to come out with the full version which includes features such as Page Builder.
Declarative database schema will be allowing database tables to be defined in XML rather than in install scripts. Magento 2.3 would not require merchants to create scripts for creating, deleting and updating scripts in SQL. Instead it would be enough to create scripts with XML specify changes within the database structure itself.
The functionality of allowing roll back is another plus in Magento 2.3. It allows rolling back any database changes to a previous version.
Magento 2.3 comes out with a replacement for TinyMCE 3 with TinyMCE 4.
It will facilitate highly customizable WYSIWYG: widgets, variables and the media gallery are implemented as plugins and can be defined both globally or on per shop instance.
The Multi Source Inventory update in Magento 2.3 facilitates the merchants to link multiple stock locations to a product enabling effective stock management from different locations.
This would come handy in servicing the customer from whichever store is nearest to the shipping location.
This feature of Magento 2.3 will prove to be a channel for linking the inventory from multiple sources such as physical stores, marketplaces and ecommerce stores.
Granular cash management ACL (Access Control List) is a brilliant feature of Magento 2.3. It allows choosing which team member can view and delete Magento cache.
It will prove helpful as new team members can take some time to get fully used to the system cache. Team members can be assigned the level of cash management through this feature.
To curb the malicious attempt of unauthorized admin panel access, Magento 2.3 presents a two-factor authorization process along with the free Google ReCaptcha, that ousts any third-party solution usage. The target of Google ReCaptcha is not solely to check that the shoppers are not a robot before they complete a task. Moreover, it uses progressive risk analysis techniques, to figure out a huge sphere to tell humans from bots.
The features of Magento 2.3 are exceptional. One amongst them is PHP 7.2 support offering. It will be compatible with the latest PHP version i.e PHP 7.2. This will allow the PHP to bring all the latest feature changes in the Magento platform in terms of security and quality. PHP removes the encrypting module ‘Mycrypt’ is removed and Magento2.3 moves to libsodium form mycrypt for password hashing (for safety reasons the password is coated in hash #) as it is much more secure. All these processes will be automated.
The features of this latest version of Magento 2.3 are-
-Two factor Authentication
-Magento Import/Export Improvements
-Asynchronous and Bulk Web API
-Elasticsearch updates
