Amazon is rolling out a major transformation in how third-party developers, agencies, and service providers access Seller Central. Effective August 31, 2025, all third-party SP-API developers must migrate to the Amazon Solution Provider Portal (SPP) to retain access to Selling Partner API (SP-API). Additionally, starting April 10, 2025, all agencies, consultants, and software providers must register on the Solution Provider Portal (SPP) to maintain access to Amazon Seller Central accounts.
This move fundamentally changes how Amazon manages external tools and service providers, enforcing tighter security, compliance, and access control.
What Is Amazon’s Solution Provider Portal (SPP)?
The Amazon Solution Provider Portal (SPP) is a centralized gateway for third-party developers and service providers to register, manage integrations, and access Amazon’s marketplace tools. SPP replaces Service Provider Central (SP Central) and brings enhanced compliance, better data access, and API monitoring to streamline Amazon seller and vendor solutions.

Key Features of Amazon SPP:
- Unified Account Management – Consolidates multiple SP-API profiles into a single account for better control.
- Advanced Compliance Monitoring – Includes Amazon Guard, a continuous security monitoring tool.
- Faster API Integrations – Provides ready-built integrations for quick deployment.
- Improved API Performance Tracking – Enables self-service tools to monitor API efficiency, errors, and call success rates.
- Simplified Onboarding – Eliminates the need for separate accounts for different Amazon store programs.
Why Is Amazon Making This Change?
Amazon’s shift to SPP is driven by security, compliance, and efficiency concerns. By centralizing all third-party integrations, Amazon aims to:
- Enhance Data Protection: Stronger security controls will minimize unauthorized API usage.
- Reduce API Misuse & Policy Violations: Developers and service providers will have standardized compliance requirements.
- Improve Service Quality: Amazon sellers and vendors will have better visibility into trusted third-party solutions.
This move reinforces Amazon’s long-term trend of limiting third-party access to its ecosystem while ensuring compliance with its policies.
Who Needs to Migrate to Amazon SPP?
- Amazon SP-API Developers: Any business or software that integrates APIs for Amazon sellers and vendors must transition to SPP.
- Amazon Service Providers: Agencies and consultants managing seller accounts, advertising, and fulfillment operations.
- Amazon Marketplace Solution Providers: Tools that offer inventory management, pricing automation, and data analytics.
- Amazon Business Buyers & Supply Chain Partners: Any third-party entity relying on Amazon’s API ecosystem to operate.
Steps to Migrate to Amazon SPP Before the Deadline
For SP-API Developers:
- Log into Seller Central → Develop Apps to access the guided migration workflow.
- Consolidate multiple SP-API profiles under a single account or choose to maintain separate profiles.
- Register in the SPP platform and adjust API permissions accordingly.
For Service Providers (Agencies, Consultants, and SaaS Providers):
- Amazon will provide an assisted migration process for service providers registered in SP Central.
- Expect direct communication from Amazon regarding your migration timeline.
- Ensure your team members and clients are aware of these upcoming changes.
- New service providers must register on SPP before launching any integrations.
The Risks of Not Migrating to Amazon SPP
If third-party developers and service providers fail to complete the transition before August 31, 2025, they risk:
- Losing SP-API Access – No API access means disruptions in automation, analytics, and management tools.
- Inability to Support Amazon Sellers & Vendors – Agencies and SaaS providers may lose their clients if they cannot access their accounts.
- Restricted Marketplace Access – New Amazon integrations will only be available through SPP, making it the mandatory platform for future API developments.
How to Prepare for a Smooth Migration
- Complete your SPP registration early to avoid last-minute issues.
- Test API integrations on SPP to ensure smooth operation post-migration.
- Communicate with Amazon sellers & vendors about how these changes will impact their business.
- Monitor compliance updates within SPP to stay ahead of Amazon’s evolving policies.
