Breaking boundaries, Amazon Singapore will enable sellers to sell in multiple categories rather than focusing exclusively on groceries & household essentials, as in 2017.
According to Amazon, this initiative will cater to all types of Amazon shoppers, whether they are Prime members or not. Amazon Singapore will not only feature big brands but also small and medium-sized businesses.
The Prime Members in Singapore will still have Prime Now, the free two-hour delivery service for orders more than $40. Amazon.sg also ensures free international shipping for eligible orders over $60 from the Amazon International Store. Prime Members will also get free one-day delivery with no minimum spend on local eligible items.
Amazon Prime Membership costs $2.99 a month.
Quoting Amazon Singapore Country Manager:
“With Amazon.sg, we want to provide what customers have been asking us for: the ability for everyone to shop on the desktop and mobile, more local and international selection from Amazon and trusted sellers, paired with fast and reliable delivery”.
With an internet population of 4.7 million, Singapore exposes Marketplaces to a huge audience. Thereby, increasing the Conversion rate of the Marketplace to multifold.
Thus, with Amazon Singapore, the U.S.-based company has tried to open up all the avenues of growth. With the launch of Amazon SG, the company wants to take the fight to South-East Asian giants like Lazada & Shopee. It will be interesting to see how Amazon copes with the immense competition from established marketplaces like Alibaba & Shopee.
Amazon’s launch in Singapore has made a great impact on the SEA Market. It enables shoppers in the region to get access to all product categories, even to the Kindle e-books which wasn’t the case earlier. This will enable sellers to get more traffic to their websites. Resulting in more buyers coming to the marketplace due to its expanded scope in terms of product categories.
If you are someone planning to sell on Amazon Singapore, then relax! With certain dedicated companies who aid the process of helping you sell on the desired Marketplaces, it is a hassle-free task.
