Pinterest is diving headfirst into the burgeoning secondhand market with the launch of “Thrift Shop,” a new, dedicated shopping experience within the platform. Timed perfectly with the 2025 Autumn Trend Report, which highlights a significant surge in interest in thrifting and vintage aesthetics, the initiative aims to connect users with pre-loved treasures directly on Pinterest.
The Autumn Trend Report revealed a significant shift in user behavior. Gen Z, now accounting for over 50% of Pinterest users, is driving the trend, with searches for “dream thrift finds” skyrocketing by 550% and “vintage autumn aesthetic” searches up by a staggering 1,074%. Men are also embracing the movement, with “secondhand outfits for men” searches up 31%. The trend extends beyond fashion, with interest in “secondhand kitchens” and “secondhand decor” growing significantly as well.
The Thrift Shop, launching from August 20th to September 26th, promises a streamlined shopping experience for Pinterest users, allowing them to browse and buy vintage and secondhand items directly on the platform. Pinterest is partnering with top vintage and thrift retailers globally, and will feature weekly curated “closet drops” from industry tastemakers.
