The high purchasing activity which indicated that the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday to be a high-intensity sales season stands true.

Adobe Analytics predicted $23 billion to be spent on the online purchase between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. And the Cyber Monday was expected to set a record as the largest — and fastest-growing — online shopping day of the year, with $7.8 billion in sales — up 17.6% from last year.

Record-Breaking Sales Season:

All the predictions stand true. Thanksgiving Day online sales amounted to $3.7 billion (with sales from only mobile exceeded $1 billion.  Black Friday pulled in $6.22 billion and the Cyber Monday sales exceeded $7.9 billion. Overall more than $60 billion was spent during the period. The shift toward online buying continued this year too with more people preferring to hunt deals online rather than queuing up in lines at the retail stores.

CedCommerce Client(s) Report:

The Shopify & BigCommerce merchants using CedCommerce’s Multichannel apps to sell on the major marketplaces enjoyed the great Holiday Season. The Walmart and Walmart Canada saw the highest sales activity.

The pattern continued for all the major days of the period i.e. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.  Following chart shows the number of orders received for the Thanksgiving Day to Cyber Monday duration.

Walmart Canada, too, was the highest sales grossing marketplace in Canada for CedCommerce merchants, both for Bigcommerce and Shopify.

Black Friday Most Impactful worldwide:

As per the order data received from the marketplaces with the global presence, Black Friday seemed to have generated the most traction. Unlike Halloween, which has a cultural element to it, therefore, it’s celebrated worldwide, Small Business Saturday, which is organized to celebrate and support the small business owners and Cyber Monday is limited to a specific geography.

Shopping Bonanza to continue:

Although the best shopping period may be over, the entire Q4 season is filled with festive and merrymaking spirit. That’s why shopping season will continue. As per one estimate, 53% of people are planning to make a purchase between the December 1- 15. The biggest shopping day during this season is Green Monday.
